Welcome to NZRun.com.

Although this site has been in existence for some time, until now it has only been in the form of the message board. We have finally managed to take the next step and offer our users a more structured and comprehensive look at athletics in New Zealand.

The main focus of this site is to acknowledge the hard work and success of many of New Zealand's top track and field athletes and most specifically our middle and long distance runners. New Zealand has a rich tradition in athletics and NZRun.com is coming to fruition at a time when that tradition is being re-invented by world-class performers, the likes of Valerie Vili and Nick Willis.

NZRun.com hopes to be a central source of information about elite New Zealand athletes, their training and competion, both internationally and domestically, as well as providing new opportunities for athletes to communicate and access numerous online resources.

We thank Histyle Internet Services for being the first business to get behind this site and appreciate their continued technical support. Also, thanks go to the team at Letsrun.com who have built a site which is unrivalled and has been the inspiration for this site.

Thanks to Jayesh Patel for the hours of work on the design and basic organisation of the site and the files, and especially the efforts in finally getting the message board uploaded to the new site.

The content of the site will be predominantly managed by Carl Jackson and Rees Buck. Carl and Rees both hail from Wellington, New Zealand and have been racing each other for many years over events ranging from 800m on the track to 12,000m in X-C.

Carl has represented New Zealand at two World University Games (Mallorca, Bejing) and while attending Western State College in Colorado achieved All-American honours in several events. Since returning to New Zealand in 2000 Carl has competed at a high level in track and X-C and has current personal best times of 3:45 (1500m) and 8:10 (3000m).

Rees had moderate success in track and X-C in New Zealand as a junior and, like Carl, completed his university education at Western State College while on an athletic scholarship. Rees was a member of Western State College NCAA II X-C Championship winning team in 1999, placing 2nd behind two-time Olympian, and fellow Kiwi, Michael Aish.

Since returning to New Zealand in 2000 he has gone on to represent his country at three IAAF World X-C Championships and has won the last three New Zealand Senior 3000m titles. You can find out more about Rees on his website.

We hope you enjoy the information and links we provide on this site and look forward to receiving plenty of feedback regarding improvements for this site.
