Sorry for the lack of blogging...however we are here to redeem ourselves and fill you in frequently on our Europe adventures over the next 5 weeks.
Before we start, we thought a rundown of the past six months would help you gage where we are at. I (Lucy) have been pleased with my progress on the track this year. Indoors was a fun time for me as I was able to run some fast times. I was focussing on the 3000m during this season. I ran 8:56 and came 3rd at the NCAA Indoor Champs for this event. I was also able to get my mile time down to 4:32. Holly also raced the indoor season, running 15:56 for the 5000m to qualify for nationals. She had a few ups and downs during this season, as we all do in this sport, but it has helped her develop as an athlete. During outdoors I was focussing on the 1500m and came 2nd at the NCAA Outdoor Champs for this event. Many of the races I ran in were very tactical so I am looking forward to running in some fast meets over in Europe to get my 1500m time down. Holly redshirted (did not compete for the university) during the outdoor season but raced unattached. She got P.Bs in the 1500m (4:21), 3000m (9:09) and 5000m (15:44) and is looking also to get her 5000m time down in Europe. We are both happy with where we are at and are looking forward to the experiences we will have in the coming weeks.
We fly out of JFK on the 27th (next week) and are going to be basing ourselves in Leuven, Belgium until August 1st. We are looking forward to meeting other athletes over there and to experience how racing in Europe is done. We will update you on how the racing is going, all the yummy food we eat and other exciting adventures we have (the possibility of getting lost a few times is quite high)!
That's all for now!
Next time we blog we will be in Europe (exciting)!!!
