It's been a while since my last blog but lets go over what's been happening throughout the indoor season so far! First was the "Dual Meet". As mentioned in my last blog this meet is just between Ohio State and Michigan. Unfortunately we lost.... but there was still some great racing by the boys in blue. I competed in the mile along with Brendon and senior team member Tony Nali to finish in second place with a 4.37 (last 600m in 1.21). Later i came back to run the 800m and finished second to last in 1.57. Not feeling to great after the plane rid...
So cross-country is all done and dusted! Not the best finish for the boys in blue but after a week off we are back on our feet and are looking ahead to the indoor season. I don't really know what to make of indoor season. It seems like a huge inconvience in the sense that its pretty much two track seasons back to back but then again we do get to race the mile! The indoor mile is really going to be the main focus for me this season. Our first race is going to be the "Dual Meet" which is a traditional clash between The University of Mic...
Well I must say the boys in blue were a little bit dissapointed with our overall effort at big tens! we finished 5th with Wisconsin clearly dominating the race. The 8.35km course felt brutal exspecially after the 2min 40 1st km. I was sitting around 40th at this point in the race and went through the km mark in 2min 45. Although the 1st km is mostly downhill this was still unknown territory for myself. The race slowed down considerably but so did the rest of our team! Brendon was our 1st finisher in 14th place in 25.44min which was a ...
Grand Rapids was definitely the most fun i have ever had on a cross country course. It was also the slowest course i've run on but considering the conditions the Michigan boys ran very well. First place was Peter Christmas (Michigan) in 25.07 min. Our next three guys weren't too far behind which gave us the overall win. So things are looking good for big tens. My race was alright. It was comfortable but nowhere near as fast as i wanted. Finished 2nd in 26.40ish which is a massive PB so i can't complain! We had our second "Michigan" workou...
So the team had a solid 9th placing at the Adidas Invitational in Wisconsin. It wasn't the best result we hoped for but considering four of our top guys were sick it wasn't too bad. The previous tues we had an intense workout of 4 times 2km and 2 times 1km around the golf course. We went consistent the whole way and then finshed with a 2.42km. i felt like a had a fridge on my back however Brendon was floating along like a fairy and added insult by casually jogging off after the rep. He asked me to put a little bit about him in each of...
This last week has been spot on! Tue we did a workout around the Arb which is a 1km hill that we do repeats on. It was tough but i managed to sit on the back of the group most the way. The other Freshman were looking good aswell. Fri we did another 6mile tempo around the golf course. Brendon and i ran alot stronger than last week (45sec) so things are looking good. It's a tough course and you get a great variation of gradients on it so come race day we all should be well prepared. This last week has really boosted my confidence in Ron's program...
Hi Guys, Ann Arbor (Michgian) now has a hold on me! Not only is it without a doubt the best place i could have come to for furthering my running career but also it has a great atmosphere about it. Both the womens and mens track team are closey knit and you get this sense of anythings possible by having so many people around you who share common goals and dreams. For myself training has shot through the roof! Its just so easy to stay focused having access to anything ranging from a band aid to the 'alter g' trainer. W...
