Day 13-16 Tomorrow we run Pretty Valley and then take-off down the mountain for a week in Melbourne. Upon completion of tomorrows run...I will have stacked up almost 450 kms in 16 days, a few gym sessions, couple of bike rides and have survived living in a studio apartment with Tingay. The most impressive part…Tingay and I chowed thru almost $500 worth of food! So after 16 days we have had a pretty good insight into life up here….here’s our top 5 like and dislikes of Falls Creek. I will start with the Likes&hel...
Day 9 thru 12 Sunday's Pretty Valley Run was one of the craziest runs I have done in a while. Thick fog, rain and sleet...we ran thru knee deep water over a broken dam wall and through miles of trails that were flowing with ankle deep water. We were soaked, the wind was insane...and the crazy thing was, Collis, Bobby and I ran faster than we did on the same run last Sunday! Not necessarily a good thing, but it happened. Monday saw 2 light runs getting ready for Tuesdays km repeats. I chased Bobby for as long as I could in th...
Day 6, 7 & 8 If the shine of Falls Creek was wearing off on Day 3...it’s gone on Day 8. In the first week I racked up 112 miles (180km), 6 gym sessions, played on the bike for a few hours...and lived with Tingay during all that. He’s a story teller who just keeps on telling. The other day on a run he was obsessed with finding out...wait for it...what frogs do all day? I forgot my iPod. Big mistake. Thursday saw a light threashold run...it was on some pretty average trails and the pace wasn’t on. Friday saw 2 easy runs and some...
Day 4 & 5 Tuesday was an unreal day – sun was out and it was warm…nice enough that every ant on the mountain decided to come out of hiding and follow us to our interval session. You couldn’t stand still for more than 2 seconds without feeling like you had 100 ants running up your leg! The intervals went well….for some reason I planned on doing a few more reps than the group and it caught up with me. I’m normally ok at jogging between reps, but today I had to walk off the last 20 seconds of each recovery (1...
Brett Tingay and I arrived at Falls today (Saturday Nov 6th) and we wasted no time getting out for a trot. Soft steady state, recovery run and 2 x 15 min stints standing in the coldest freshwater aqueduct! Not a bad start. Tingay talks big...and a lot, but the boy is a pansy. Kid stood in the creek for about 30 seconds....then went off and cried like a 12 year old girl. His face went white when I said we were going back in again after the recovery run! What a pansy! First couple of trails we went on were a bit rough and muddy, but there was no ...
