2014 World Indoor Champs
The World Indoor Champs starts tonight (NZ Time) and with three of the five Kiwi’s competing in middle distance events it will be exciting to see if they all make their respective finals.
The following link is expected to have a LIVE video stream from Sopot, Poland which is accessible in NZ: world-indoor-championships-live-stream
Below is the competition schedule for the NZ athletes.
Athlete Event Date (NZ)
Tomas Walsh Shot Put Qual Fri 7 Mar 22:15 Lucy van Dalen 3000m Heat Fri 7 Mar 23:25 Nick Willis 1500m Heat Sat 8 Mar 00:25 Tomas Walsh Shot Put Final Sat 8 Mar 08:05 Zane Robertson 3000m Heat Sat 8 Mar 08:25 Valerie Adams Shot Put Qual Sat 8 Mar 22:15 Valerie Adams Shot Put Final Sun 9 Mar 06:50 Nick Willis 1500m Final Sun 9 Mar 08:00 Zane Robertson 3000m Final Mon 10 Mar 04:10
My predictions are:
Nick 7th (8th if I was still running)
Tom Walsh 14th
Van Dalen 15th
Robertson 18th (Surprised he wasn’t running some indoor tune up racing instead of running for $$ in the Caribbean)
Valerie throws 20.11m in first attempt, qualifying for the Final to be held in a few hours. No results available yet.
Also, LIVE stream currently down.
Great throwing by Val
Nick raced well I thought, probably just a touch to far back heading into the last it was always going to be difficult for him to get around that many people in the last lap. He was well positioned throughout the race I thought. Great start to the year heading into CCW
I am fizzing over Toms throw, what great way to win your first major medal, going from 5th to 3rd on the last throw.
Looking forward to Zanes race.
FYI Zane’s race is at 4:10am not 4:50 as posted above. Wouldn’t want anyone getting up in the small hours to miss out.
Thanks for that t-pain – I hadn’t noticed.
It was copied from the Athletics NZ page linked below the schedule but hadn’t been checked for accuracy. Updated now.
Any predictions on Zane in the final??
It’s gonna be tough to back up after a 7:44 in the heat, and with some real kickers in there I’m not sure there’s much he can do to get a sniff of the top 6. I guess the placing is irrelevant, but it would be cool to see him in the mix late in the race as things heat up!
The link above is now showing ski jumping this one works
