Kiwi Milers

Nick Willis 4 months ago

In addition to the three sub-4s, and Matt Harris' 4.02 in Wanganui this weekend, Julian Matthews ran 4.02.08 in Boston, and Brendon Blacklaws ran 4.04.

Matthews followed his providence team-mates Dominic Channon (looking great pacing!), and David McArthy through the 3/4 mile in 2.58 before finally falling back (McArthy ran 3.55!).  A much more even pace like we had in Wanganui, I'm confident he would have been extremely close to sub-4.
Blacklaws won his race, so one would assume there is plenty of room for a faster time, had he been dragged along....
Any others I missed?

Good weekend for the Kiwi milers!

Yes thats a new nz record. The old one was 4.16.74 held be Alison Wright 1981. Was a great run for Lucy against a field of professionals.

Eric speakman ran a fast 4:04.0 which must be a solid pb for him. Lucy ran 4:11.72 for 7th at millrose games in NY which I think is a NZ indoor 1500m record for the rarely run event. Also Julian Matthews 3:59.34 in Boston, less than a second of his pb.
